The DT Swiss Alpine III is the spoke with the best stiffness-to-weight ratio, which is achieved by a complex manufacturing process. Starting with a 2.34 mm spoke, the diameter of the thread is reduced to 2 mm in a cold-forging process, and to 1.8 mm at the centre.

Achtung hier werden einem normale Alpine Speichen als Alpine III Speichen verkauft. Hab das Laufrad leider schon aufgebaut und bei DT Swiss ist der verjüngte Teil immer etwas schwer zu ergreifen, allerdings habe ich sie jetzt nachgemessen und es sind nur die normalen 2.0/2.0/2.3 Speichen. Eigentlich ein Witz...

Einsatz beim Neuaufbau eines Hinterrads mit Scheibenbremsen für ein Tandem. Das Bremsen erzeugt gewaltige Last für ein Laufrad! Nach ca. 10.000km meist mit Gepäck auch über nicht geteerte Weg und vielen Alpenpässen (u. a. Großglockner, Bernina, Giau, mehrfach Brenner, Alpe d'Huez) einmal etwas nachzentriert, ansonsten völlig problemlos.

Würde ich - Modell je nach Einsatzgebiet - jederzeit wieder als erste Wahl für selbst gebaute Laufräder nehmen.

First class spokes. I have built excellent wheels with these using the brass prolock squorx nipples and phr washers. Same as competition but thicker elbows. Wheels feel indestructable with them.
