The POWERDOME MIPS bike helmet by ABUS combines successful features of the Gamechanger, Airbreaker and Stormchaser models with proven features of its predecessor Aventor. It is very lightweight and individually adjustable to perfectly fit the head thanks to its ZOOM ACE adjustment system. A total of 17 vents ensure ideal air circulation in every situation and even in high temperatures. A streamlined scoop on the helmet additionally supports the clever ventilation. It is modelled on the "power dome" of high-performance cars and gives the helmet its name as a functional design element.

MIPS: WHAT IS MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a slip-plane system within the helmet. It is designed to rotate inside the helmet and thus slow down or reduce the impact energy acting on the brain, which helps reduce head injuries caused by rotational impacts.
WHY IS MIPS IMPORTANT?
When a head rotates quickly and comes to a sudden stop, the rotational acceleration may cause the brain tissue to experience high levels of strain. This stretching of the tissue caused by these motions may result in various types of brain injury. MIPS is designed with the intent to address rotational acceleration from impact.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS uses a slip-plane system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain’s own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we might reduce the risk and severity of brain injury.

IN-MOULD:
The IN-MOLD technology provides a durable connection between the outer shell and the shock-absorbing helmet material (EPS). Therefore, the liner is fused with the outer shell under high pressure and strong heat for a lasting connection. This makes the helmet very robust and lightweight.

FORCED AIR COOLING:
A sophisticated ventilation system which ensures effective airflow around the head thanks to the interaction of suction and pressure – for an optimal head climate and improved aerodynamics. It sucks in incoming air and channels airflow around the head before letting the air escape through the air outlets. This keeps your head cool in hot races.

FLOATING PADDING:
This liner pad is only fixed at three selected attachment points. This provides more pad flexibility, better ventilation and higher comfort.

ZOOM ACE:
Precise adjustment via a half ring consisting of two plastic components for best stability and a perfect fit. An anti-slip adjustment dial allows for precise adjustment. Besides, the fitting system offers wearers with long hair one comfortable advantages: A cutout in the fitting system offers enough space for a ponytail.

FLOW STRAPS:
An aerodynamic, flutter-free and skin-friendly strap.
